Mueller State Park
View from the Visitor Center

Mueller State Park’s 55 miles of trails provide a 5,000-acre playground for the hiker, mountain biker and wildlife watcher. Summer in Teller County means the wildlife is active and plants are in full bloom and the cooler weather is enticing. Make your plans now!

A popular Watchable Wildlife Area, Mueller is home to abundant wildlife including elk, black bear, hawks, and mule deer. Park visitors traverse the park’s numerous trails on foot, horseback and mountain bike. Mueller is a popular winter destination for snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and tubing.

Interested in spending the night? There are 132 campsites in the park; 22 walk-out tent sites, 129 electric campsites and 11 electric campsites in the group campground. 17 electric campsites are open for winter camping . The park also has three cabins for rent year-round.

Mueller State Park welcomes leashed pets in campgrounds, picnicking areas, 4 of the 5 sledding areas and along the park’s roads, but not on the hiking trails or in the backcountry. By keeping pets off of the trails, we increase the chances of visitors seeing the various species of wildlife in the park and are better able to maintain this pristine Watchable Wildlife Area. Download Pets at Mueller State Park to learn more. Pets must be on a leash at all times unless they are in a tent, RV or personal vehicle. We discourage leaving your pets in an unattended vehicle as intense sunshine can quickly heat up the inside of vehicles to as much as 20 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. Please plan and make appropriate arrangements for your pet during your stay with us.

Upcoming Roadwork:
Please excuse us this spring as we complete some much-needed roadwork. Mueller State Park roads will be re-paved starting in the spring and lasting until early July. Please expect delays & road closures.
