Boat Ramps - 12/7/2011
The boat ramp is closed for the winter and should reopen March 1 weather permitting.
Boating - 12/1/2011
The boat ramp is closed for the season. Hand-launched boats are still permitted. ANS Advisory: The program to prevent the spread of Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) in Colorado’s waterways will continue when the Boat Ramp reopens in March 2012. All boats must be inspected before launch. Colorado State Parks encourages all boaters to take a few simple, precautionary steps every time they go to a lake, river or reservoir. Before leaving a lake or other waterway, boaters should: DRAIN the water from the boat, live well and lower unit of the engine; INSPECT all exposed surfaces; REMOVE all plant and animal material; CLEAN the hull of your boat; DRY the boat, fishing gear, and equipment.
Camping - 10/20/2011
The South Shore campground and sites 24-61 have been closed for the season. Sites 1-23, 62 & 63 remain open. The family restrooms are open year-round. Reservations must be made a minimum of three days ahead and may be made as much as six months in advance. For questions about camping, you may call the park at 719-846-6951. To make a reservation, call 800-678-2267 (Denver metro call 303-470-1144).
Fishing Report - 10/11/2011
Historically, Trinidad Lake’s fishing remains good throughout the winter months. Fishing for trout, walleye, and yellow perch seems to get better as the water cools. The boat dock will be removed in November and will not return until next spring. Ice may form on the lake. However, this usually does not occur until late December or early January. The lake does not ice over every year. Give your boats a good cleaning this winter so they are ready for ANS inspections next season. Remember to check the DOW regulations for size restrictions and limits at Trinidad Lake. Camping is available year round with limited facilities. Contact the Visitor’s Center for information on ice and fishing conditions throughout the winter as well as camping availability at 719-846-6951.
