Fishing Report - 2/10/2012
Trout fishing has been good for fish up to 18” with an occasional 5-7lb trout being caught. Anglers having the most success are using kastmasters, ice jigs, and tube jigs tipped with a mealworm. The ice is approx 18-20” thick in the coves and at the inlet but always use caution as conditions vary around the reservoir. The Steamboat Great Outdoors ice fishing guides will be operating at the Marina this winter for supplies and to guide ice fishing trips. Please visit the 'links' page for more information. Tailwaters anglers are using San Juan worms, RS2's and zebra midges. CR 18 is closed to all vehicles including snowmobiles. Anglers should park at the park entrance and walk, bike, or ski down for fishing access.
Hunting - 2/10/2012
Waterfowl and small game hunting is available in the western portion of the park during legal hunting seasons. The ponds at the New Wetland will be CLOSED to hunting this season due to continued construction and re-vegetation. Hunting is not allowed on the eastern portion of the reservoir or the Tailwaters. Icing Conditions - 2/10/2012
There is approximately 18-20" of clear ice at the north side of the inlet and in the coves with only about 8-12" of snow on top. Remember, ice conditions will vary across the reservoir. Use extreme caution and access the ice at your own risk. Always ice fish with a buddy.

Roads around the park are currently snowy with some icy spots. CR 18 is closed to all vehicles including snowmobiles until April 1.
Trails - 2/10/2012
The trails are all open and have 8-12" of snow. The 7 mile loop trail on the reservoir surface has been groomed and marked with blue poles. Conditions vary due to low snow pack. Stop by the park office for more information on ski trails. Remember, pets must be leashed at all times for pet and owner safety and to protect sensitive wildlife that nest near trails. The Double T dog sleds will be running on the Elk Run Trail from the lot off CR 16 to Morrison Cove through the winter if there is sufficient snow. Please yield to the dog teams and always have pets leashed.
