Boat Ramps

The boat ramp is currently closed no water in the lake. If you are planning on boating at a different park or body of water pre-inspections are available, by appointment Thursday-Sunday, and you can obtain a green seal for your boat which is valid at any Colorado State Park or Colorado body of water where inspections take place.

Seasonal Closures

The wildlife area is closed annually from February 15 until July 15, for waterfowl nesting. This includes trail closure through the area. Call the Park at (719)378-2020 with questions about San Luis State Park.

San Luis State Park is open for day use. Trails in the wildlife area north of the lake are closed annually from February 15 until July 15th. This closure is due to wildlife nesting.

Water Levels

San Luis Lake is dry, due to extreme drought. All available water was diverted into the Head Lake and wetland complex in the San Luis Lakes Wildlife Area.
