Navajo State Park
Sailing in the Spring

Navajo State Park is Colorado's Answer to Lake Powell.  Navajo Reservoir Extends for 20 miles South into New Mexico.

Boaters and campers enjoy the park year-round. Houseboaters and other power boaters cruise some of the 15,000 surface-acres of the giant reservoir. Daily and seasonal slip and mooring ball rentals and gasoline for boats are available at the park’s Two Rivers Marina.

Navajo’s campgrounds have 138 campsites; all sites are open year-round. Fishing enthusiasts catch crappie, large-mouth and small-mouth bass, northern pike, trout, bluegill and catfish in the reservoir.

Wildlife Watching
Winter Fun in the Park

Winter is the perfect time of year for watching wildlife in the park.

Bald Eagles usually arrive early in December and winter in Arboles, perched in trees overlooking the lake where they can hunt for prey and bask in the sun with their family and friends.

Deer wander the campgrounds, and frequent the Visitor Center and picnic grounds, looking for grass, berries and other tasty tidbits on which to dine.

Canadian Geese camp out for the winter near the lake and in the fields, or stop by on their journeys to even warmer winter climes.
When snowfall is light and temps remain mild, as is the case many winters in Arboles, visitors still hike the trails or play on the lake.   Although the boat ramp remains closed Dec.-Feb. some choose to rent discounted marina slips so they can enjoy boating the lake all winter long.

When the winters are cold with lots of snowfall, snowshoeing the trails and sledding on campground slopes can provide lots of family fun.  Wolf Creek ski area is about 1.5 hours away.

Also, our full service campsites and one heated cabin are open year-round for overnight stays.
