19 miles of Mueller's trails are designated for mountain biking. Bikers must stay on designated trails. All trails are natural Pikes Peak granite. Expect moderate to steep sections on trails; no easy bike trails. Check conditions for trail information.

Cabins and Yurts

Mueller State Park offers 3 furnished log cabins for rent year-round and they make a great winter "camping" alternative!! The cabins are rented via reservations and on a first-come, first-served basis when available. Reservations must be made for a minimum of 2 nights. Camping

The campground and all of its facilities are NOW OPEN! Both electrical campsites and walk-in tent campsites are available. Water is available at multiple locations throughout the campground. Both modern restrooms and vault toilets are within walking distance of most campsites. The dump station is conveniently located on your way out of the campground. All electrical hook-ups have 20amp & 30amp. The Camper Services Building has modern restrooms and pay showers. Mueller is a popular camping destination; reservations are highly recommended.

Cross-country Skiing

All trails CLOSED to cross-country skiing. Cross-country skiing is a delightful and peaceful way to discover Mueller's forests and scenic meadows in the winter. Always check conditons before making the trip to the park. 719-687-2366.

Self-guided trails: Wapiti Nature Trail #6, Northern Meadow Loop Trail #17; Dragonfly Children's Trail; Enjoy summer naturalist led hikes, activities and amphitheater programs. Pisgah Point is now open for the summer! Currently taking reservations for 2013; reservations began at 9AM January 9th, 2013. at 719-687-2366 Ext 0. 11 electric sites, most of which can accomodate both tents and R.V.s, are arranged in a close-knit fashion, great for a family reunion or the weekend getaway with friends! All 11 sites must be reserved; $252/night.

Hiking

With 55 miles of trails in Mueller and an additional 25 miles in the Dome Rock State Wildlife Area that borders Mueller, there are many opportunities to expolre the beautiful foothills of the Rockies. Mueller State Park's 55 miles of trails area accessible via foot, horseback, mountain bike, snow shoes or cross-country skis. All trails are open at this time. Current conditions are poor-fair; there's approximately 12 inches of thick, wet and heavy snow on the trails making it difficult for snow shoeing or hiking; cross-country skiing may be the best bet at this time. Always take a Mueller State Park Trail Map with you. A Printable trail map is available at the menu on your left.

Horseback Riding

Overnight camping with horses is not permitted. Bring your horse early in the day and discover 19 miles of designated trails available for scenic horseback riding. Horses are not permitted on paved roads, in the campground or picnic areas. Please see the Mueller Trails page for additional information. Trailers must be parked in designated area at the Livery Trailhead #20 (CLOSED FOR THE WINTER); to the east of Wapiti Road across from Lost Pond.

Hunting

Hunting is prohibited between Memorial Day and Labor day. Mueller State Park offers 800 acres of hunting area within its western portion, part of which is adjacent to Dome Rock State Wildlife Area. Opportunities for hunting include Mule Deer, Elk, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Turkey, small game and some waterfowl. Both the park and Dome Rock are within Game Management Unit (GMU) 581. The park's hunting area is accessible by foot only and it is approximately a 1 1/2 mile hike from the designated trailheads to the hunting boundary. The hunting area can be accessed from Rock Pond Trail #5, Lost Pond Trail # 11 and/or Black Bear Trail #13. Hunting weapons must be unloaded from the trailhead until the hunting boundary that is clearly marked along those designated trails. Once the hunting boundary is reached, hunters may load their hunting weapons and may stray from the trail to hunt. Outside of the designated trails, the hunting boundary is clearly marked by orange posts every 50 yds. It is the hunter's responsibility to know where these boundaries are and be familiar with all Colorado Parks and Wildlife regulations. Picnicking

All picnic areas are now open for the summer! Mueller has 4 first-come first-served picnic areas in a beautiful forested setting. Each picnic area can accomodate up to 50 persons. Each area has 10 tables spread out amoung the trees with an upright barbecue grill at each table. Bootlegger Picnic Area has a handicapped accessible table. Non-reservable.

Mueller State Park is a popular Watchable Wildlife area. Ask for a wildlife and/or bird checklist at the entrance station or the Visitors Center! Many wildlife species call Mueller home. From black bear to birds, there is something for everyone.
