Lake Pueblo State Park

Lake Pueblo, rated a fishing “hot spot,” provides over 4,600 surface acres of water, 60 miles of shoreline and almost 10,000 acres of land. Along with the sunny days and a mild year-round climate, visitors quickly learn that one day is not enough.

Full service marinas and a diversity of campsites welcome guests to stay awhile. Water recreation includes sailing, motor-boating, waterskiing, river tubing and prime fishing. Boaters choose from two full-service marinas and boat ramps.

Land recreation includes hiking, biking, picnicking and diverse nature exploration. Miles of trails make it easy to discover the beauty of the shady Arkansas River below the dam or the wonder of 200-year-old Juniper trees. Wet or dry activities culminate with camping options that encourage a day of play to become a mini-vacation.

Views of the Greenhorn and Wet mountain ranges to the southwest and the magnificent Pikes Peak to the north are a splendid way to end the day. It is no wonder that Lake Pueblo State Park is a favorite destination.

READY TO FISH FOR A MILLION?

Lake Pueblo State Park will again draw anglers from around Colorado during the next two months as they try to land specially tagged fish that could bring them up to $2 million in cash or one of more than $225,000 in prizes during Cabelas' "Wanna Fish for Millions?" contest. Colorado is one of 19 states participating in this year's contest, which is designed to give anglers a little extra incentive to get outdoors and on the water. The contest started Saturday, May 5 and runs through July 8. Complete details of the contest and registration are available online at Cabela's website.

Summer Camping:

Prairie Ridge, Yucca Flats and Eagle View (all on the north side) are open.
All have electricity and sites are $20 per night. Prairie Ridge and Yucca Flats have flush restrooms, coin-operated showers, coin laundry and a dump station.

Arkansas Point Campground on the south side is open. These sites also have electricity and are $20 per night. Flush restrooms, coin-operated showers, coin laundry and a dump station are also available.

Juniper Breaks and Kettle Creek have basic sites (no electricity and vault restrooms) and are open. These sites are $16 a night.

Remember: a park pass is required on every vehicle for every day. This is in addition to the camping fee.

ANS Summer Boating Hours

Summer hours are now in effect. The ramps are only open 5 am to 11 pm.

Lake Pueblo is open to boating 24 hours a day, but boats can only be launched when the inspection stations are open. When the stations are closed, the gates to the boat ramps will be locked and no boats will be able to enter or leave the water.

Safety Reminder

Swimming is NOT allowed in the reservoir. Cliff-diving is also strictly prohibited and extremely dangerous.

Wading is permitted in the reservoir. A good way to know that you are wading: your feet are always touching the ground!

Swimming is only allowed at the Rock Canyon Swim Beach. The beach is currently closed, but will open for the season on Friday, May 25.

Starting May 25, the beach will be open Thursdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) 11 am to 6 pm. The beach closes for the season on Labor Day (September 3, 2012). There is no extra fee for the beach, but a park pass is required on every vehicle that enters the park.

Please note: Pets are not allowed in the swim beach compound. It is not safe to leave pets in a hot car, so plan to leave your pets at home when visiting the beach. Glass is also not permitted at the beach.

Your Pet in the Park

Would you let your son lick a prairie dog?

Dogs are always welcome at Lake Pueblo. The only place they are not allowed is at the Rock Canyon Swim Beach.

For the safety of your dog and for the enjoyment of ALL visitors, it is important to follow a few common-sense rules about dogs in the park:

All dogs must be on a leash (no longer than 6 feet) at all times. This includes dogs in the campgrounds, along the shoreline, on the trails and at the marinas.
Please pick up the waste from your dog and dispose of it properly.

These are not just great ideas for doggy etiquette; they are the law! Violations can result in a fine.

Pueblo ANS Measures

Boaters may fish or moor 24 hours a day. However, they may only launch and load when the boat ramp inspection stations are open.

We are currently in our winter inspection hours: both inspection stations are open from 5 am to 6 pm daily.

Stations may close early in inclement weather or if the ramps are iced over. Check the conditions page for this information.

All gas motorized boats, including personal watercraft, must launch and load at the boat ramps.
