Highline Lake State Park is beautiful in winter! Clear blue skies, sunshine and pure white snow make Highline Lake a winter wonderland. There are several large 3 and 4 point bucks in the park, as well as the rest of "the herd" that lives here. The bald eagles are back for the winter, and the geese are heading south after their annual visit to Highline Lake. Dredging operations at the dam (south) end of Highline Lake are complete. The water level at Highline Lake has been dropped by 20 feet.
The land contours of Highline Lake that are usually under water are an amazing sight! Take a drive or hike along the trails on both east and west sides of Highline Lake for a view of the lake that hasn't been seen in over 30 years! Bundle up; the weather is cold and clear! The park roads are plowed and dry, although there may be an icy spot or two. Drive carefully.
