Highline Lake State Park
Triathlon Swimming in Highline Lake 

An oasis in the desert, Highline Lake is the recreation epicenter for the Grand Valley with two lakes, lush grass, trails and trees.
No matter the season, Highline Lake State Park is a diverse and welcome retreat. Connected to miles of trails and close to communities, the park makes an ideal base camp for exploring the Grand Junction area.  Whether passing through on mountain bikes, or as an end destination, the park welcomes campers, anglers, families and groups.

Birders have plenty to see here. The Audubon Society designated the park an important bird area; thousands migrate through the area every winter.

Why Visit Now

May 18 and 19 ONLY, be aware of the following:
there is LIMITED camping available, on a first-come basis at the Park;  
boaters MUST use the WEST Park entrance; 
boating on Highline Lake is available AFTER 8am; and the day use  picnic area and swim beach is available AFTER 9 am!
Please use caution on the west park road - watch for runners!

As of May 18, ANS inspectors are available 7 am to 8 pm Monday - Friday, and 6 am to 9 pm Saturday and Sunday.   Decontaminations are  available 8 am to 4 pm ONLY! 

ALL boats with even one ballast tank must go through a decontamination unless the boat has a seal. 



Welcome to the HITS Triathletes!  HITS, a national Triathlon, is happening at Highline Lake this weekend!  Visit the park this weekend and watch these amazing athletes!

The swim beach is open!  Hope for warm and sunny weather to warm up the water - it's still in the 60s.

It's finally Spring in Western Colorado, and the park is green and blooming!  Come out and take a hike around the lake and watch Spring bloom at the park and all around the valley.  

Bring a camera, and Get Outdoors at Highline Lake!
