Picnic Sites - 4/1/2013
Eldorado Canyon has 33 streamside picnic sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are NOT accepted. The sites fill up quickly on summer and holiday weekends, often by 10 a.m. The park offers a very relaxing quiet picnic spot midweek and during the cooler months.
Trails - 4/1/2013
Eldorado Canyon has several trails for hikers, joggers, bird watchers, photographers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. All offer spectacular views of the canyon. The Fowler Trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible and features a self-guided nature walk. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers often travel the Fowler and Rattle Snake Gulch Trails in the winter. The Rattle Snake Gulch Trail accommodates skilled mountain bikers. At the top of the trail are ruins of the Crags Hotel and an overlook of the Continental Divide. The Eldorado Canyon Trail accommodates horseback riders - it is a very steep trail however. The Eldorado Canyon Trail connects to the Walker Ranch Loop for an extended hike.
Visitor Center - 4/1/2013
The Visitor Center Bookstore is one mile west of the park entrance. It has a bookstore/gift shop, an excellent climbing wall display, an interesting geology display and a wonderful video of the park history. It serves as the Ranger Station too. Boulder County's best meeting room is available by reservation with a nominal fee. Call the park at 303-494-3943 for more information or to volunteer in the park. The Visitor Center is open 9 am to 5 pm almost every day of the year. Hunting and Fishing Licenses are available and we can also register your boat, off-highway vehicle, or snowmobile here (bring proof of ownership!).
