A popular activity at Chatfield is individual and group camping. Camping permits are required in addition to the parks pass. To ensure everyone a safe and peaceful camping experience, please follow campground regulations. A reservation fee of $10 for all sites is applicable. Check-in and Check-out time is 12:00, noon. Open fires are allowed in designated campfire rings and grills provided. The use of charcoal grills and liquid fueled grills is also allowed. You may also have a fire in a small self-contained metal grill (like a hibachi grill) on the shoreline. Building a fire in an undesignated area is strictly prohibited and no building of fires on the ground anywhere in the park. Jefferson and Douglas County fire restrictions and bans will be followed when in effect. Please note: NO fireworks of any kind are allowed at the park or model rockets. Four camping areas boast 197 sites. All campsites are surrounded by native grass, are within walking distance to the lake and have picnic tables and grills. Facilities include pull-through or back-in campsites, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry, centrally located water, firewood and a sanitary waste station. One hundred twenty sites classified as full hook-up (water, sewer, & electricity provided) located in A, B and D Loops. The remainding 77 sites in Loop B and Loop C have electricity only. Thirty four sites in Loops B and C have detached tent pads. Twelve campsites are accessible to people with disabilities. A specially designed shower attachment is also available by request from the Campground Registration Building.
Campers Note: The Deer Creek Entrance has a height limitation of 13'0". Camping units taller than this should use the park’s Plum Creek Entrance (see map for directions).
Starting November 1, the only loop open for camping will be D-Loop (sites 154-197). D-Loop will be on a first- come, first- serve basis. Camping reservations are not accepted during the winter season for these sites. D-loop is a full service camping loop (sewer, electric and centrally located water). The water hookups will be turned off between October 15 and October 31. The RV dump station will remain open year round for potable water and emptying holding tanks. Please check the fees page for prices. D-loop has restrooms, showers and laundry facilities which will remain open through the winter camping season. All loops will reopen for camping April 1.
Reservations for 'Summer Camping' at Chatfield may be made more than three days in advance and up to six months in advance. For camping from mid-October to mid-April all sites are first come first served, please call the park for availability during this time. Chatfield has 10 group campsites with electrical hookups.
There are four electrical pedestals at each group site. Each site accommodates up to 36 people and twelve camping units. No more than 4 units can use the electrical hook-ups. Showers and restrooms are located in the group area. No amplified sound systems, including amplified musical instruments are allowed in the group camping area. From mid-October to mid-April the shower house and bathrooms are closed for the winter.
Group-Loop reservations are made through the park office at 303-791-7275, Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:00 pm, holidays excepted. The reservations for the 2013 season, begin January 22, 2013. A daily parks pass is needed for each vehicle entering the park and we're sorry there are no exceptions.
