Barr Lake is open for boating; remember all trailered watercraft are required to submit to an ANS inspection or follow the pre-launch procedure. Inspection hours are 7am to 3pm Mon-Thurs and 7 am to 7pm Fri-Sun.

Fire Restrictions

Barr Lake is now under a fire ban by order of the Adam's County Sheriff; no open flames- charcoal, wood and smoking are all prohibited; propane or gas grills okay.

Fishing Report

Trout are biting near the boat ramp; trolling the bouy line works well for walleye some 18-20" walleye have been caught there recently; some nice wiper 18- 25inches)have been hauled in near the railroad bed.Water temp is 68 degrees- which is perfect for walleye. A state parks pass is required ($7 Daily Pass or $70 Annual Pass)in addition to your valid fishing license (now available at our Nature Center).

Hunting

Hunting season is now over at Barr Lake. 2012's totals were 1059 hunters harvested 472 birds. Waterfowl hunting is allowed at Barr Lake from the blinds and only on Wednesdays and Saturdays during legal hunting seasons (Northern Front Range for goose; Northeast zone for duck). Call 1-800-846-WILD for blind reservations. All rules and regulations apply. No other hunting is allowed at Barr Lake State Park.

Trails

The 8.8 mile Perimeter Trail winds around Barr Lake. There are many short boardwalks and loop trails connected the Perimeter Trail. Bicyclists beware of goatheads that can pop tires. Thorn-proof tubes are recommended. Horse riders beware of new steep grade section of concrete at the East end of the Dam (MP-7).
