Barr Lake is now open for boating; remember all trailered watercraft are required to submit to an ANS inspection or follow the pre-launch procedure.

Fishing Report

Trout are biting near the boat ramp; boaters have caught some nice 18-20" walleye and a 22-inch wiper by the dam. Water temp is 53 degrees. A state parks pass is required ($7 Daily Pass or $70 Annual Pass)in addition to your valid fishing license (2013's now available at our Nature Center).

Hunting

Hunting season is now over at Barr Lake. 2012's totals were 1059 hunters harvested 472 birds. Waterfowl hunting is allowed at Barr Lake from the blinds and only on Wednesdays and Saturdays during legal hunting seasons (Northern Front Range for goose; Northeast zone for duck). Call 1-800-846-WILD for blind reservations. All rules and regulations apply. No other hunting is allowed at Barr Lake State Park.

The new Rookery View Trail is closed for construction until further notice.

Trails

The 8.8 mile Perimeter Trail winds around Barr Lake. There are many short boardwalks and loop trails connected the Perimeter Trail. Bicyclists beware of goatheads that can pop tires. Thorn-proof tubes are recommended. Horse riders beware of new steep grade section of concrete at the East end of the Dam (MP-7).
