San Miguel River at Tabeguache
Location: Montrose County
Size: 640 acres
Landowner: The Nature Conservancy
The site encompasses a highly scenic free-flowing portion of the San Miguel River, the last remaining uncontrolled river in Colorado. Sand bars along the San Miguel River support high-quality Fremont cottonwood riparian forest. The understory of these stands is largely free of exotic species.
