Colorado State Parks offers plenty of hunting opportunities from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Whether you prefer small game, big game or waterfowl, there is a park that awaits you! Embark on your hunting adventure during the next day, and then spend the night in a cozy yurt or rustic cabin.
The following are various hunting opportunities offered throughout Colorado State Parks:
Spinney Mountain State Park: Waterfowl opportunities exist for geese, mallards, teal, bufflehead, wigeons or gadwalls on the reservoir. Larger game hunters may find mule deer and the occasional pronghorn antelope. Jackrabbits and coyotes are abundant for small game hunters. Open seasonally, approximately April to November.
Lathrop State Park: Visitors may hunt for waterfowl and small game in posted areas around Horseshoe Lake. Only shotguns and bows and arrows are permitted.
Bonny Lake State Park: Many hunting opportunities exist for both small and large game. Common species hunted include deer (draw permit only), turkey (draw permit only), waterfowl, dove, pheasant, quail, rabbit, and squirrel.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park: Hunting is only allowed in Jefferson County area of the park. The Green Ranch portion is open to elk hunting.
North Sterling State Park: Waterfowl oppor
tunities are plentiful for teal, ducks, and geese that migrate through. Dove hunting along the 3½-mile long South Shoreline Trail requires a little more footwork. Archery deer hunting is also available. Only shotguns and bows permitted.
Navajo State Park: Deer, elk and bird hunting are permitted in established seasons.
Crawford State Park: Waterfowl hunting and big game opportunities exist throughout the park.
Stagecoach State Park: Small game and waterfowl hunting is allowed on the western portion of the reservoir.
Lone Mesa State Park: A Special Use Permit program allows limited public hunting during the big game seasons, with opportunities for elk, deer and bear.
Barr Lake State Park: Waterfowl hunting is restricted to the established blinds north of the dam.
Eleven Mile State Park: This park is home to a diverse number of waterfowl and both small and big game. Hunters may find mallards, buffleheads, gadwalls, widgeons, common mergansers, coot, teal, shovelers and goldeneyes. Small game opportunities exist for cottontail rabbits, jackrabbits and coyote both on the plains and in the surrounding mountains. Big game hunters may find deer, elk, bear and mountain lion on USFS land bordering the park. 
Lake Pueblo State Park: Small game and waterfowl hunting is permitted in designated hunting areas.
Jackson Lake State Park: Hunting for waterfowl, pheasant and upland bird hunting and archery deer is allowed inside the park. Small game opportunities include rabbit, squirrel, pheasant and dove. Hunters can also test their skills on the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) lease property.
